 Salem Community Alert System

Be informed about emergencies or important community alerts by signing up for the Salem Community Alert System.  This system enables us to quickly provide you with critical information for a variety of situations such as flooding, police activity requesting resident action, evacuations, hazardous materials releases and other situations where action on your part is desired for life safety reasons.

When you sign up, you can choose to receive time sensitive messages wherever you specify, such as your home, mobile or business phones, text messages, email addresses and more.

Salem Community Alert System allows you to select the areas in Salem about which you would like to receive alerts (e.g. your home, work, child’s school, etc.). You can receive alerts for up to five different addresses within Salem.

You can also pick the best way to get the information to you (text, landline, cell phone, email, etc.).  The Salem Community Alert System will keep trying to contact you until it succeeds or until the event is over. We will also let you know when the event or situation is resolved.

In addition to receiving emergency messages, you have the option to subscribe to receive community information on several topics by email.  You may skip this section if you do not wish to receive this information.

Topic areas include:

  • Center 50+: You will be provided monthly updates on NEW programs, services, and volunteer opportunities for individuals age 50+. You may select one or all:
    • New Programs/Classes/Services
    • Special Events
    • Volunteer Opportunities at Center 50+

  • Salem Public Library: The Library currently allows patrons to choose to receive email notices about any or all of following topic areas:

    • Author visits
    • Family events
    • Films
    • Lectures
    • Live music
    • Teens
    • Volunteer opportunities
